I am an Assistant Professor (without review) in the Philosophy Department at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. Before coming to Vancouver I was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Society of Fellows at Princeton University, as well as a lecturer in the Department of Philosophy and the Council of Humanities, having completed my doctorate at the University of Chicago in 2013. I am also one of the founding editors of The Point.
My first book project, under contract with Harvard University Press, argues for the notion of “philosopher-citizens” by way of Plato, Marx and Rawls; a second project will concern socialism. As a writer and editor for The Point, meanwhile, I have tried to carve out a space for the philosophical essay in the tradition of Montaigne. For an overview of the lunacy, here’s my CV.
